Globe Drifters

Cancellation policy

Cancellation Policy

Should a traveler wish to cancel their trip, cancellation charges will apply. Cancellation requests must be made in writing and are effective from the date the notification is received by Globe Drifters Inc. (GDI) or an authorized travel agent.

The following cancellation terms apply unless otherwise stated for a specific trip.

a) 120 days or more before the trip start date
A refund will be issued for all payments made to GDI minus a $300 non-refundable deposit per traveler.

b) Less than 120 days before the trip start date
No refunds, credits, or changes will be permitted.

The $300 deposit represents administrative and reservation costs and is non-refundable under all circumstances, even if cancellation occurs more than 120 days before the trip.

Charter Trips & Fully Reserved Properties

Some Globe Drifters trips require us to charter or reserve an entire vessel, property, or facility exclusively for our group. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Private yacht or cruise charters

  • Private villas

  • Retreat centers

  • Lodges or other fully reserved properties

For these trips, once the trip is confirmed there are no refunds, credits, or changes permitted.

A trip is considered confirmed once the required minimum number of travelers has been reached and GDI has committed financially to the charter or exclusive reservation. Travelers will be notified in writing when a trip has been confirmed.

After confirmation, all payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, as GDI has already secured the full property or vessel for the group.

If Globe Drifters Cancels the Trip

In the unlikely event that Globe Drifters cancels a trip, a full refund of all payments made directly to GDI will be issued.

Refunds will be processed to the original form of payment, or by certified check if the refund occurs more than 180 days after the original payment was made.

Payment Processing Fees

Payments made by credit or debit card are subject to payment processing fees charged at the time of booking. These fees are non-refundable under any circumstances, including cancellation.

Payments made via bank transfer or bank account are not subject to processing fees.

Travel Insurance

Globe Drifters strongly recommends that all travelers purchase comprehensive travel insurance to protect their travel investment in the event of cancellation, medical emergencies, travel delays, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Travel insurance may provide coverage for, but is not limited to:

  • Trip cancellation

  • Trip interruption

  • Emergency medical expenses

  • Emergency evacuation and repatriation

  • Trip delay

  • Baggage delay or loss

Travelers are responsible for selecting a travel insurance policy that provides adequate coverage for their personal circumstances and travel plans.

Globe Drifters works with Travelex Insurance Services, which offers travel protection plans designed for travelers. However, travelers are free to purchase insurance from any provider of their choice.

Mandatory Travel Insurance for Certain Tours

For some tours, travel insurance is mandatory due to the nature of the destination, activities involved, or the increased inherent risk associated with the trip.

Globe Drifters will notify travelers in writing if travel insurance is required for a specific tour.

When required, travelers must purchase travel insurance within 30 days of the tour confirmation.

At a minimum, the policy must include coverage for:

  • Emergency medical expenses

  • Emergency evacuation and repatriation

  • Trip cancellation or trip interruption

We strongly recommend that policies also include coverage for COVID-19, personal liability, curtailment, and loss or theft of luggage or personal belongings.

Travelers will not be permitted to join the trip unless proof of the required travel insurance coverage has been submitted to Globe Drifters within 30 days of tour confirmation.

Responsibility for Insurance Coverage

Travelers are solely responsible for obtaining travel insurance and ensuring their policy provides adequate coverage for their needs.

Globe Drifters is not responsible for any costs, losses, or expenses incurred by travelers who fail to purchase travel insurance or whose insurance policy does not provide sufficient coverage.
