Day 1 : Arrival Day
Welcome to Costa Rica! Your journey begins with a short scenic private charter flight to our retreat center, departing at 9:30 AM and lasting about 20 minutes. Flying low over Costa Rica’s lush landscape offers a beautiful introduction to the adventure ahead. From there, it’s a short drive to the retreat center that will be our home for the next seven days.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing mocktail and shown to your room. Take some time to settle in, explore the grounds, or enjoy a dip in the pool before we gather for our first group lunch together.
After lunch, we’ll come together for an Opening Circle, where we’ll meet as a group, set intentions for the days ahead, and begin our shared journey. The afternoon will then be free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
In the evening, we’ll gather for a welcome dinner featuring nourishing cuisine, followed by a deeply restorative sound healing session led by a local Costa Rican practitioner. Using the soothing vibrations of alchemy bowls, traditional Tibetan bowls, and delicate chimes, this immersive experience encourages deep relaxation, emotional release, and a sense of inner harmony.
Included :
- Transportation: Private charter flight (20 minutes)
- Activities: Opening Circle; Sound healing
- Meals: Welcome mocktail, Lunch, Dinner
- Accommodation: Private retreat center (exclusive to our group)
We recommend arriving in San José the day before to ensure you don’t miss the charter flight. Guests staying at the designated pre-tour hotel will have complimentary transportation to the airport arranged that morning, while those staying elsewhere can make their own way to the domestic terminal.
If you prefer to arrive on the same day, we recommend arriving in San José by 7:00 AM to comfortably make the connecting charter flight that departs at 9:30 AM. Detailed meeting instructions will be provided once the trip is confirmed.
NEXT DAY

After lunch, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at your own pace. Relax by the pool, book a spa treatment, wander the jungle trails, or simply unwind and take in the peaceful surroundings.
In the late afternoon, we gather for a reflective workshop, Writing Your Next Chapter, exploring themes of identity, reinvention, and the possibilities that lie ahead. After dinner, the evening continues with a relaxed game night — a chance to laugh, connect, and enjoy time together.

There will be time to swim, explore the nature trails, and take in the beauty of this remarkable setting before returning to the retreat center.
After lunch, the afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. For those interested, an optional cold plunge and ice bath experience will be available — a refreshing way to invigorate the body and awaken the senses.
In the late afternoon, we gather for a reflective workshop, Listening to the Wisdom of Your Body, exploring how our bodies communicate what they need as we move into new chapters of life. The evening concludes with a nourishing group dinner and time to unwind together.

After exploring the market, we’ll spend some time at the nearby beach, where you can walk along the shore, enjoy the ocean breeze, or simply relax and take in the laid-back coastal atmosphere.
Following lunch back at the retreat center, the afternoon is free to enjoy however you wish — unwind by the pool, schedule a spa treatment, explore the jungle trails, or simply rest.
In the late afternoon, we gather for a workshop on Relationships & Boundaries, reflecting on how we connect with others and how healthy communication and boundaries can support our growth in this stage of life.
After dinner, the evening concludes with a Medicine Music Experience, a powerful live sound journey blending global rhythms, instruments, and vocals. This immersive session invites you to relax, listen, move, or sing along as the music creates a shared space for expression, connection, and deep presence.

After lunch and some time to relax, we’ll head to the coast for a special beach celebration at Playa Linda. As the afternoon turns to evening, enjoy a beautiful beachfront gathering complete with a bonfire, drumming, music, and a festive dinner by the ocean. Robin Adelson

Robin Adelson’s journey into health and wellbeing coaching began with a personal exploration of identity and self-care during the Covid years. As the mother of three grown daughters, much of Robin’s life had naturally revolved around her role as a parent. When she began asking deeper questions about who she was beyond that role, it opened the door to a powerful personal journey toward wellness, self-awareness, and growth.
That journey ultimately led Robin to become a Duke-trained and nationally board certified Health and Wellbeing Coach (NBC-HWC). She also holds a certificate in Nutrition Science from Stanford. Before entering the wellness field, Robin spent 15 years as an attorney and 17 years as a non-profit leader, experiences that shaped her thoughtful and compassionate approach to working with others.
Robin specializes in supporting women in midlife and beyond who are ready to reconnect with themselves and prioritize their own wellbeing. She works with clients to explore meaningful changes that support greater health, balance, and happiness — helping them move toward what she calls “perfect imperfection.”
At the heart of Robin’s work is a belief that people are complex, interesting, and always evolving. She values family, friendship, kindness, connection, learning, travel, good food, and stories that move us — whether through books, film, music, or shared conversation.

Kelly Turgeon is the co-founder of Soul Tribe Retreats and a wellness entrepreneur who has spent years creating transformational retreat experiences for women around the world.
As a 200-hour Certified Yoga Teacher, Transformational Coach, and SOMA Breath Master Instructor, Kelly blends yoga, breathwork, and reflective practices to help participants slow down, reconnect with themselves, and gain clarity about the life they want to create.
Kelly first fell in love with yoga after experiencing the profound clarity, peace, and connection the practice brought to her own life. Today, she guides others through mindful movement and breath-centered practices designed to help participants tune in to their inner wisdom and reconnect with their natural strength and grace.
Her classes weave together breath, movement, and inner exploration, creating a supportive space where guests can soften, release stress, and return to a sense of presence.
Kelly is passionate about designing retreats that feel both nourishing and expansive — spaces where women can step away from daily responsibilities, rediscover joy and clarity, and reconnect with themselves and one another.

The Right Fit
This retreat is designed for women navigating life transitions and exploring how to make the most of their next chapter. Most of our guests are typically in their mid-40s to their 70s. Many women join us solo, and the experience quickly becomes a warm and supportive community.
Our retreats tend to attract women who are curious, open to growth, and interested in meaningful conversations and shared experiences. The group dynamic is an important part of the journey, so we ask everyone to arrive with a spirit of kindness, curiosity, and personal responsibility for their own experience, contributing positively to the collective energy of the retreat.
A Few Things to Keep in Mind
Costa Rica is wonderfully different from home — and that’s part of the magic. Our retreat center is set on 22 acres of lush rainforest in the mountains, surrounded by incredible nature and wildlife. While the property is a beautiful 5-star facility, being immersed in the rainforest means you may occasionally encounter small bugs or animals. If this happens in your room, simply text the front desk and a team member will gladly assist.
Travel in Costa Rica can also be beautifully unpredictable, and we embrace that spirit of adventure. If you’re someone who can go with the flow, laugh when plans shift, and appreciate cultural differences, you’ll likely thrive here.
This is a wellness retreat, and participation in all activities is always optional. We encourage you to listen to your body and honor what feels right for you — whether that means joining every session or taking time to rest, relax, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Whether you’re arriving solo or with a friend, you’ll be welcomed into a supportive group of women who are all there for the same reason — to take a meaningful pause, reconnect with themselves, and enjoy a beautiful experience together.
-
This retreat is designed to be accessible for most people with a moderate level of mobility.
Yoga sessions will focus on gentle rise, restorative, and yin-style practices, making them suitable for both beginners and those with prior yoga experience. Modifications are always offered, and guests are encouraged to move at their own pace.
During the retreat, we will also visit a beautiful waterfall, which involves a short walk on a natural trail with some uneven terrain and a mild incline. While the hike is not overly strenuous, guests should feel comfortable walking on forest paths.
As this is a wellness-focused retreat, all activities are optional. You are always encouraged to listen to your body and participate at a pace that feels right for you, whether that means joining every session or taking time to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
-
Women who join this retreat come from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds and are typically in their mid-40s and beyond, with many guests ranging from their late 40s through their 70s.
Most women join solo, while some travel with a friend, sister, or family member. The group quickly becomes a welcoming and supportive community.
Some guests arrive at a moment of reflection or transition, while others are simply looking for time to recharge, gain perspective, and enjoy meaningful travel in beautiful surroundings with like-minded women.
-
This retreat will include approximately 16–22 women, depending on the number of shared rooms booked.
We rent out the entire retreat center exclusively for our group, creating a private and supportive environment where everyone can relax, connect, and fully immerse themselves in the experience together.
-
Yes. All retreat activities listed on the itinerary are included in the trip price.
The only optional services not included are spa treatments, which can be booked directly with the retreat center for an additional cost. There is also a Wellness Bar on site where guests can purchase specialty drinks such as fresh juices, superfood smoothies, detox elixirs, mocktails, and specialty coffee beverages.
To help maintain a peaceful and wellness-focused environment, the retreat center is a dry campus, meaning alcohol and other substances are not permitted on the property.

-
Airport pick-up and drop-off are not included in the retreat price.
We recommend arriving in San José (SJO) the day before the retreat to ensure you don’t miss the charter flight to the retreat location. Guests staying at the designated pre-retreat hotel will have complimentary transportation arranged to the domestic terminal that morning. Those staying elsewhere can easily make their own way to the airport.
If you prefer to arrive on the same day, we recommend booking a flight that arrives in San José no later than 7:00 AM in order to comfortably make the 9:30 AM charter flight. Detailed meeting instructions will be provided once the trip is confirmed.
At the end of the retreat, our estimated arrival back at San José Airport (SJO) is around 11:00 AM. The domestic terminal is a short 5–10 minute walk from the international terminal, and we recommend booking international flights departing no earlier than 1:30–2:00 PM to allow sufficient connection time.
If you plan to stay overnight in San José after the retreat, taxis and ride services are readily available from the airport to nearby hotels.
-
Meals at the retreat are vegetarian, nourishing, and beautifully prepared. The cuisine is designed to support the wellness experience while still being flavorful, satisfying, and creative.
Many guests arrive unsure about vegetarian meals, but the majority are pleasantly surprised by how delicious and fulfilling the food is. The kitchen team takes pride in creating dishes that are both nutritious and gourmet, using fresh ingredients and vibrant flavors.
The retreat center’s philosophy is rooted in a commitment to wellness, sustainability, and mindful living. Rather than trying to convince anyone to follow a specific way of eating, the goal is simply to showcase how incredible thoughtfully prepared, plant-forward cuisine can be.
If you have any special dietary requirements or allergies, you will be asked to note them during the booking process. The kitchen team will do their best to accommodate your needs.

In early January, the weather in the mountains above Dominical (where our retreat center is located) on the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica is typically warm, lush, and comfortable.
January falls within the dry season, which usually brings sunny mornings, occasional afternoon clouds, and lower humidity than other times of the year.
At the retreat center’s elevated rainforest location, temperatures are often slightly cooler than at the beach:
Mornings and evenings can feel fresh and breezy in the mountains, while midday is warm but rarely extreme due to the surrounding rainforest.
Packing tip: Bring light, breathable clothing for daytime, along with a light sweater or wrap for cooler mornings and evenings. Comfortable shoes are also recommended for walking the jungle paths around the property.
-
Yes. The retreat center is a cashless campus, so credit and debit cards are accepted for purchases on site, including spa treatments, wellness bar items, and other optional services.
You won’t need to carry cash for most things during your stay. However, if you wish to leave optional staff tips, those are typically the only situations where cash may be useful. We will also provide a link at the end of the trip where you can tip the retreat staff by credit card.
Most guests simply bring a credit card for any extra purchases during the retreat.
-
The retreat center is supported by a dedicated team of over 30 local staff members, including the kitchen team, housekeeping, maintenance, gardeners, security, and guest services.
Gratuities are never expected, but they are always appreciated as a meaningful way to thank the team for the care they provide throughout your stay.
If you wish to leave a tip, the retreat center suggests approximately $20 per guest per day, which is pooled and shared among the entire staff. Guests are welcome to adjust this amount based on their comfort and experience.
If someone provided exceptional service, you are of course, welcome to offer an additional personal tip.
Tips may be given in Costa Rican colones or U.S. dollars, and for convenience we will also share a secure credit card tipping link in the group WhatsApp at the end of the retreat.
Should I Tip the Retreat Hosts?
Tipping the retreat hosts is not expected, though some guests choose to express their appreciation with a small personal gesture or note if they felt especially supported during the retreat.
-
The official currency of Costa Rica is the Costa Rican colón (CRC). Prices in local shops, restaurants, and taxis are typically listed in colones.
However, U.S. dollars are widely accepted in many tourist areas, hotels, and tour operators. If you pay in dollars, you’ll usually receive change in colones.
During the retreat, we’ll visit the nearby town of Dominical, where many vendors at the farmers’ and artisan market also accept U.S. dollars, though prices are generally listed in colones.
Tip: Bring small bills ($1, $5, $10, $20), as larger bills can be harder for vendors to change.
*All accommodations include a security safe where guests can store personal belongings such as passports, cash, electronics, and valuables.
-
Yes, they provide laundry services, $25 per load to pick up, wash, dry, fold, and deliver back to you. Allow 24 hours for turnaround.
-
The water at the retreat center comes directly from a natural spring in the mountains. It is perfectly safe to drink as it is, and it also tastes very fresh and natural.
They filter all of the drinking water that is served, but please know it’s perfectly safe to refill your water bottle or drink directly from the tap.
-
Yes, most international cell phones will work in Costa Rica with an international plan or roaming enabled through your provider.
The retreat center also offers Wi-Fi in the common areas and accommodations, so you’ll be able to stay connected if needed. However, due to the natural mountain setting, connection speeds may occasionally be slower than what you’re used to at home.
Many guests choose to take this opportunity to disconnect and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, while still having access to communication when needed.
-
Costa Rica primarily uses Type A and Type B electrical outlets, the same types commonly used in the United States and Canada. The standard voltage is 120V with a frequency of 60Hz.
If you are traveling from the U.S. or Canada, your plugs should work without an adapter. Travelers from other countries may need a plug adapter (and possibly a voltage converter depending on their device).
If you’re unsure, bringing a universal travel adapter is always a good idea so you can easily charge phones, laptops, and other electronics during your stay.
-
Most travelers do not need any special vaccinations to visit Costa Rica. However, we always recommend checking with your doctor or a travel clinic before traveling to ensure you are up to date on routine vaccinations.
Costa Rica is a well-established travel destination with good healthcare infrastructure, and no vaccines are required for entry for travelers arriving from the United States, Canada, or Europe.
As with any international trip, it’s best to consult your healthcare provider for the most current recommendations based on your personal health and travel plans.
Flights
Your arrival airport and your departure airport are San José (SJO).
*Please do not book any flights until you receive an email from us. You will receive an email regarding your trip within 24 – 48 hours of booking the trip.
Visas
Citizens of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and most EU countries do not need a visa to visit Costa Rica for tourism stays of up to 90 days.
Upon arrival, immigration officials may ask to see proof of onward or return travel, such as a departure flight ticket. Travelers are sometimes also asked to provide the address of their accommodation during their stay.
We will provide the full address and details of the retreat center in your pre-departure notes, which will be sent approximately two weeks prior to the trip start date.
If you are not a citizen of one of the countries listed above, we recommend checking with your nearest Costa Rican embassy or consulate for the most up-to-date visa requirements.
As a general rule, your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates. Many countries will not allow entry if your passport is set to expire within six months of your trip, so it’s important to check your expiration date well in advance of departure.
Weather in Early January
Warm, tropical, and humid, but usually cooled by pleasant ocean breezes. Early January falls during the dry season on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, making it one of the best times of year to visit Dominical. Perfect for beach time, jungle activities, and beautiful sunsets.
Expect daytime temperatures around 82–88°F (28–31°C) and evening temperatures around 72–75°F (22–24°C).

Set on approximately 20 acres of lush rainforest in the Savegre mountains above Dominical, the retreat center offers a peaceful, nature-immersed setting where jungle pathways connect the different areas of the property. The main shared spaces include an open-air yoga shala for yoga and meditation, a workshop space for group sessions and talks, and a central communal area where meals are served and guests gather to relax and connect.
The grounds themselves are part of the experience, with winding jungle trails linking the accommodations and shared spaces, and leading to a river and private waterfall.
