Our smile policy
One of the best parts of group travel is meeting people with different personalities, backgrounds, and travel styles. Every group is unique, and that is part of what makes each trip special.
We ask all travelers to treat fellow guests, trip staff, guides, hotel employees, and local residents with kindness, patience, and respect throughout the trip.
A flexible and positive attitude
Travel does not always go exactly according to plan. Weather, transportation, opening hours, and other circumstances may occasionally require changes to the itinerary.
We ask that you come with an open mind, a sense of humor, and the ability to let the small things go. Travelers who are flexible and focus on the overall experience tend to get the most enjoyment from our trips.
If you are someone who is easily upset by minor inconveniences or expects everything to operate exactly as it does at home, this may not be the right style of trip for you.
Greece may feel different from home
Part of the experience of traveling is discovering that everyday life may be different from what you are accustomed to at home.
Naxos is a more traditional and locally oriented island, where many hotels, restaurants, and other businesses are independently owned and operated by local families. Unlike islands such as Mykonos, you will not find many large international hotel chains. Accommodations tend to be smaller, more modest, and family-run, which is part of what gives Naxos its authentic character.
Hotel rooms, beds, pillows, water pressure, air-conditioning, and other amenities may therefore differ from what you are used to at home or at a large chain hotel.
We encourage you to embrace these differences as part of experiencing another country, culture, and a more traditional side of Greek island life.
Ferries, boats, and sea conditions
Sea conditions are generally calm during this time of year, but weather and water conditions are never guaranteed. Strong winds and rough seas can occur without much notice.
Ferries, catamaran trips, and other boat excursions may be delayed, rescheduled, rerouted, or canceled if captains or local authorities determine that conditions are unsafe. Any necessary changes will always be made with the group’s safety in mind.
Travelers who are prone to motion sickness should speak with their doctor before the trip and bring any medication or remedies they may need.
Your trip host
A Globe Drifters trip host will accompany the group throughout the trip. Her role includes welcoming travelers, assisting with hotel check-in, encouraging a friendly and inclusive group atmosphere, helping with general guest needs, and providing support in the event of an emergency.
Local guides will lead the scheduled tours and activities and are the best people to answer questions about Greek history, culture, and the places we visit. Hotel staff and concierges can also assist with restaurant recommendations, local transportation, and services near the hotel.
Our trips are best suited to travelers who are comfortable with a reasonable level of independence and self-sufficiency.
A semi-independent travel experience
Our trips are designed for semi-independent travelers. You will have included group activities and experiences, along with free time to relax or explore on your own.
Participation in scheduled activities is optional. However, if you decide not to join an included activity, you will be responsible for arranging and paying for any alternative plans, transportation, or activities.
You are also welcome to arrive before the trip begins or remain in Greece after it ends. All pre- and post-trip accommodations, transportation, activities, and other arrangements are your responsibility. Globe Drifters does not provide planning or booking assistance outside the official trip dates.
